The Hoek Blog
Ok, so I received some feedback that there needs to be some news posted here.
Baseball season hasn't started yet, more to come on that front soon.
Alexa hates me right now, but I am sure it is a phase.
Chandler lost another tooth and, if you read below, won another bike.
Billie is workout equipment mad, so come check out our garage if you have a moment.
I am already sick of baseball season, and we haven't played a game yet.
Here is a picture of Faith and Alexa at the petting zoo.
This picture was taken on October 23, 2001. We went to a carnival with our friends Tony and Erica, and Chandler was lucky enough to win a bike.
Chandler won another bike at Tricia and EJ's church today. What luck!
Just so you guys know, this is what our beautiful daughter looks like most of the time. Dirty face, crying, and being a 2 year old.
This is our next door neighbor's daughter, and you can't see her, but my daughter is peeing in the car as this picture was being taken.
How's this for taking you back a bit?
Just some more pics of Alexa from EJ's camera.
Look at this great picture of Alexa. It captures her wonder and innocence all at the same time. She was absolutely amazed at something this girl at McDonald's did with her bottle of bubbles. I love her so much.
My brother would be so proud.
I went to Home Depot yesterday to pick out some track lighting....with another guy I work with.
Then today, he and I also went to JoAnn's to pick out some fabric for drapes.
I have just been gaying all over the place lately.
Nah, it is all good. We are redoing our break room into a lounge at work, and he is responsible for the design, and I am responsible for paying for it, so we had to go together.
Billie has this genetic disorder that keeps her from being able to open her eyes when she gets her picture taken. She gets it from her mother. :)
Mmm... Fastaco. We don't get much of a chance to go there anymore, but when we do, we enjoy it!
This is Chandler. He enjoys video games, long walks on the beach, and parasailing. He also likes pogo sticks. Oh yeah, he is 8.
The Cubs played their first real fake game of the year today. Man, it is nice to have baseball back! Granted, none of it is on TV yet, but I am so glad to be able to read about the games on the internet, poring over the sites on the web for any piece of Cubs news. I thought it was cool that in the intrasquad game yesterday, Corey Patterson played against his younger brother Eric, and Eric tripled past his brother...how cool would that be?
It is funny to read all of the stories from camp this year, and you can just tell how happy all of the beat writers are to not have to deal with Sammy Sosa. It is funny how one person can affect way more than just the team. Don't forget how many people had to deal with Sosa on a day to day basis.
Putting that into a work context is an interesting analogy. Let's say someone at your job is the best salesman that has ever worked for your company, and they sell like CRAZY, but everybody at the office hates them. Eventually, the company has to weigh the benefits of his sales with the overall morale and productivity of the rest of the office. Usually, in the end, the rest of the company wins out. The company is willing to sacrifice a really productive member of the team and all of the sales that he generates just to make the rest of the office happy and productive. This is exactly what happened to the Cubs with Sosa. They got rid of the productive sales guy who was percieved as a cancer (and paid most of his salary, too).
I loved Sammy, and there will always be a special place in my heart for him...but not if he is taking away from my team....
